FotoSketcher – Turn Images into Handmade Drawings

I know it may sound a bit weird coming from a news editor – you know, because I work with text all day long – but I like images more than I like words (written or otherwise). With an image you can sometimes say more than by using all the words in the word. So I like to take picture, I like to look at pictures, and I definitely like to modify the pictures I took.

And this is where software comes in. With the right piece of software you can do all sorts of things to a picture. Take for example FotoSketcher, a software application that you can use free of charge. What can you use it for? You can turn the image you took with your digital camera into a handmade drawing or a pencil sketch. To my mind, the fastest way to add a sketch effect to any image is to use FotoSketcher.

I know that in the world of image editing, Photoshop is a big, very big name. The thing is that Photoshop can prove to be overwhelming for some users. With FotoSketcher you can easily and rapidly spice up your images. Speaking of ease of use, I found the user interface very appealing – from a novice computer user point of view. On the left hand side there’s the original image, on the right hand side the modified one. The buttons are big and friendly – and they bounce when you move the mouse cursor over them.

Everything is very user friendly and simple to use. If at any time you feel like you need a helping hand, click the question mark button and you will be provided with more than adequate online help. I am doubtful you will ever need it though.

FotoSketcher is a free, very user friendly photo editing application that will turn your regular images into handmade drawing your can show off.

Pros
  • Very easy to use
  • Works fast
  • Can be used free of charge
  • Doesn’t require an installation

Cons
  • None that I can think of
